back to school!

dang, i've slacked again. but i wasn't really slacking... just a little tied up. now that i have a decent internet connection and some spare time (it's been tough to get those two things together), i'll give you the quick and dirty.

candace and i moved out here to parker, CO (about 20 min south of denver, and 3.9 miles from my school) almost 2 weeks ago. we rallied and unpacked and put our apartment together in about 2 days. and 4 days ago i started my week-long orientation to med school. it was super exciting to realize that i'm finally getting started! i've working to get here for about 6 years now. real class starts monday... and this first semester i'll have about 28 credits. they describe this as 'intensive.' i agree. nonetheless, i'm stoked.

but i'm still a bike racer for a little while. i get winded after 2 flights of stairs (we live at 6000 ft). but i've still been riding hard and the power isn't bad. i've did practice races tues and thurs this week and felt good. i tested my uphill sprint tuesday and got 3rd (my sprint was about 2 seconds too short) and i tested my last lap attack last night and won. i love having those races available! they're wayyyy better than a normal workout!

i'm going to do a real crit in downtown denver sunday, then i'll chill out and learn for the week and finally head out to nationals.

speaking of big races, here's where i stand now:

Tour of Utah: I'm out. They simply won't let me miss 3 days of 'intensive' school (school is 8-5 daily with an hour for lunch by the way). I would have LOVED to have done that race... but it just won't work. I'm sure the guys will ride well there though, and I can't wait to see results!

Nats: I almost didn't get to go. The race starts late on a sunday, and I couldn't get a flight back that night... so I asked a professor if I could miss a couple classes Monday morning while I fly back. She actually told me to go race... so I'm in for nats as my last race of the year. Phew!

Not sure if I'll have anything cool to write about after nats, but if I do, I'll jot it down. I'm actually gonna go start some homework now!
